// LotTalk

Mobile Design . UX . IxD . Architecture

LotTalk is an automotive marketplace that provides privacy-protected direct messaging to buyers and sellers. Buyers get conversational commerce without sharing their contact info or being inundated with unwanted solicitation. Deal transparency and salesperson choice are hallmarks of the LotTalk experience.

I designed the entire app using UXPin and Creative Suite then lead the team that created web and mobile apps using React.js and React Native to power SPA and mobile code. User experience, interaction design and front-end code are powered by me in this evolving MVP.

Today LotTalk challenges entrenched players in the automotive space like Autotrader and Cars.com.

// Healing Kadi

Impact Media . Photography . Video . Editing

The Healing Kadi Foundation needed to respond to a new and dangerous circumstance facing the people they serve. I travelled to northern Uganda to visit refugee camps created in response to hundreds of thousands fleeing war in South Sudan.

I interviewed refugees, local leadership and the Ugandan Prime Minister as we worked to get Healing Kadi the proper approvals to operate within the camps.

The result is a fundraising campaign to help prevent a malaria epidemic that includes outreach to internet media influencers. Future goals include creating a feature length documentary about the perils of the current humanitarian situation.

// Kensium

UX . Comm Strategy . Marketing . Video . Brand

Kensium is an ecommerce company gearing up for major growth where I served as Director of Marketing & Brand. Kensium has offices throughout the USA and India. I was responsible for bringing on a 5 person design team in Lima, Peru to regenerate the Kensium brand.

I performed creative direction and directed principal photography for the video used throughout the site. I created and actively executed the company's marketing strategy across channels and managed the turnaround of Kensium's marketing efforts.

At Kensium, I enjoyed broad creative freedom to create an engaging and modern brand that sought to showcase a cohesive international team through intimate personal encounters with employees, clients and varied locations.

// EvenUp

UX . IA . IxD . AngularJS . Brand

EvenUp was a distributed team of tech and financial gurus creating an app that served as a human-centered way to facilitate communication between creditors and debtors.

I directed design and user experience throughout the public facing web and inside the application - assuring the simplicity of a data driven interface.

For EvenUp, I also implemented my designs using AngularJS - the leading framework for single-page applications (SPA). Exposure to the latest front-end technologies and dev-ops workflow keeps me connected to the methods used in next-generation web applications.

// Giant

UX . IA . IxD . UI Design . Brand

Giant needed to leap forward. Their brand had evolved, their culture had solidified and innovation was on the rise. They longed to tell the world what had happened.

I performed interviews, defined personas, and formed the clear and simple IA. I prototyped the responsive interface in code to give the client a feel for how the new site would react.

Then, I guided the build from technique to implementation. I enjoyed solving video delivery and responsive design challenges. I helped tease out the "culture powers innovation" message using a bleeding-edge approach to technology.

// Juggernaut

UX . IA . IxD . UI Design . Dev

Juggernaut Interactive is a agency developement partner that deals in web, mobile and social. At Juggernaut, I directed user experience, interaction design, and technical architecture for the clients of national agencies.

This website is a great example of minimalism in design and code. It utilizes HTML5, CSS3 and Modernizr to implement the CSS based "appear" technique. I was responsible for all design, development, information architecture and copywriting.

The website serves as the public face of Juggernaut Interactive and serves as the latest example of my ability to comprehensively create a website from start to finish.

// Firehost

UX . IxD . Dev

Firehost used in-house design talent to recreate their brand to reflect where they'd been and where they were going. I helped bring it to life by guiding interactivity, compatibility and reach.

This effort is an example of compromise. Not all factors are within the control of an experience architect, but what you make of what you have is what counts.

I guided the presentation layer approach and generated a one-of-a-kind solution to retina compatibility using the Umbraco CMS and retina.js. I authored the layout decisions for the client's "single break-point" approach to mobile. And I lead the client and the development team toward the well of realistic solutions.

// QA3 Financial

UX . IA . IxD . UI Design . Brand

QA3 Financial sought to integrate back-office processes across departments under the umbrella of a single web application with multiple audiences.

I performed extensive ethnographic interviewing across organizational boundaries. I modeled environmental and human factors, defined personas and actors and created the IA that gave form to a vast array of industry-specific concepts. I created hundreds of wireframes, storyboards and user-stories in support of this effort.

I drove stakeholder engagement and validation. I tested the application with small groups of early adopters to refine the experience. I wrangled the evolving scope by playing the lead role in both strategy and implementation.

// Marketing Ideas

UX . IA . IxD . UI Design . Dev

Marketing Ideas had a complex kluge of administrative functionality that confused users and inspired clients to move their business elsewhere. I authored an approach to user experience that turned attrition into intrigue.

I immersed myself in user and business process analysis, defined new IA, and drove a human-centric approach to UX that decreased on-boarding time and increased client retention.

Annotated wireframes, process modeling, and clear interaction design helped turn complex problems into industry-leading solutions. After initial success, I was asked to re-design many of the company's core tools including help desk and web site administration.

// TD Ameritrade

UX . IA . IxD . UI Design . Dev

In 2007, TD Waterhouse merged with Ameritrade and a new brand was born.

I had a chance to work with InterBrand, Neo and OgilvyOne in support of the new public web presence. I applied the principals of Goal Directed Design to create interactive banners, micro-sites and the digital expressions of sub-brands like Amerivest and Apex.

My work was cross-functional and I was integral in the day-to-day management of a web site that went from one million to three million visitors per day throughout the brand transition.

More stories than time to tell them

I've consulted on hundreds of efforts large and small across a diverse set of industries and products; agency and direct. Here are some of the firms who've grown along with me.
